doctor_patient_1_usedGov. Bobby Jindal has signed the 24th density reporting bill into law. The act, known as the Monica Landry Helo Early Detection Act, will become effective Jan. 1, 2016

The bill (HB 186) was brought to the attention of state Rep. Jack Montoucet, D-42, by resident Monica Landry Helo after her advanced stage cancer diagnosis in 2013.  Helo learned that the report of her mammography results contained information that impacted her breast health in 2009 that was never shared with her.

“It is my sincere prayer that HB 186, helps individuals discover cancer earlier due to full disclosure,” Helo said. “HB 186 is my gift, from the heart, to all Louisiana citizens. I would be remiss if I did not properly thank Louisiana State Rep. Jack Montoucet for the fight he waged to save HB 186.  I am proud to say I helped Rep. Montoucet in this fight and even more proud to call him my new friend.”
