doctor_patient_1_usedSiemens has released a video featuring Today Show host and breast cancer survivor Hoda Kotb. Available online on the company’s web site, on social media, and on DVD, the video reminds women of the importance of regular screenings.

Mammography allows for the detection of breast cancer earlier than self-examinations alone. The company notes that catching cancer at an earlier stage not only offers a better prognosis, but easier and most cost-effective treatments as compared to those necessary when cancers are detected at a later stage.

“Thanks to technology pioneers like Siemens, innovation in breast cancer detection and treatment continues to move forward, with better detection today than ever before possible. I’m thankful to be here today to share my story, hoping to make a difference for others,” said Kotb, as part of her video message.

“The importance of educating patients cannot be overestimated,” said Martin Silverman, vice president of Siemens x-ray business unit. “In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are pleased to share the important message that mammograms save lives.”
