With breast-density regulations now the law of the land in 13 states, KLAS has released a new report, 3 Things You Need to Know about Breast Imaging. The report highlights the growing influence of ultrasound and tomosynthesis modalities as complements to mammography, despite the latter’s continued prominence.

Of the providers surveyed, 90% indicated they rely on ultrasound after mammography, while 98% reported they would purchase a tomosynthesis product again. Vendors focused on in the overview include FUJIFILM, GE Healthcare, Hologic, Philips and Siemens.

“Some providers are leading a shift in the approach to women’s imaging,” said Monique Rasband, the report’s author and research director at KLAS. “As other providers review their imaging strategies, their understanding of their peers’ experience with various technology and vendors could have a critical impact on how they proceed.”
