Radiology Services Online (RSO), provider of specialized diagnostic image viewing solutions for the health care industry, offers a diagnostic imaging viewer plug-in that incorporates medical images with patient records managed by clinical information systems. Many practice management (PM), clinical information systems (CIS), and electronic medical records (EMR) systems were designed to maintain electronic versions of clinical notes, schedules, and test results, but were not designed for viewing medical images. Accommodation of medical images is also one of the menu option criteria for Meaningful Use 2.0.
“The efficient management of diagnostic imaging is a complex process because there are so many different image types, sizes, display system resolutions, bit depths, compression, DICOM services and so on that are needed,” said Scott Shuppert, president of RSO.
