Beverly G. Coleman, MD, FACR, honored for outstanding service in the field of radiology

Beverly G. Coleman, MD, FACR, radiologist and director of fetal imaging in the Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment (CFDT) at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, is the 2018 recipient of the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound’s (SRU) Distinguished Service Award. Coleman was presented the award at the SRU’s recent annual meeting, which was held earlier this month in San Diego.

“On behalf of the entire CHOP team, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Dr. Coleman,” says N. Scott Adzick, MD, surgeon in chief at CHOP. “She approaches every case with care, providing families with facts and guidance that allow them to make well-informed decisions. She is the best fetal sonography physician in the world and you can take her prenatal diagnoses to the bank. This is an incredible and well-deserved honor, and we are proud to work alongside her every day.”

Coleman received her medical degree from Harvard University and completed a residency in radiology, followed by a fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She has more than three decades of experience and has worked with the CFDT at CHOP since it opened in 1995.

Throughout her career, Coleman has received numerous awards and honors, including the inaugural CHOP Endowed Chair in Fetal Imaging, which will bear her name after retirement. Plus, she has presented at more than 260 professional lectures, published more than 120 peer reviewed research publications, and co-authored three books. She also held leadership posts in numerous professional organizations and is currently the ultrasound commission chair for the American College of Radiology.
