Medtronic, Inc, Minneapolis, has received CE (Conformité Européenne) mark for Ensura MRI SureScan pacing system, which allows patients with pacemakers to safely have MRI scans without the need for repositioning.

Ensura MRI is the second-generation pacing system and is available in select European geographies, but it is currently unavailable in the U.S.

The Ensura MRI SureScan pacing system features atrial and ventricular capture management (ACM and VCM) with automatic threshold measurements and adjustments. Ensura is also compatible with the Medtronic CareLink Network, which allows remote device follow-ups by transmitting arrhythmia and diagnostic device data to a physician’s clinic.

Pacemakers are of course common throughout the world, and there are over two million patients with pacemakers in Europe alone.
It is uncertain when the new pacing will be approved in the U.S. For more information about the product in Europe, visit Medtronic
