Diagnostic Imaging International Corp (DIIG) has announced the addition of new computed tomography (CT) and x-ray machines at its Schuylkill Medical Imaging (SMI) location in Schuylkill County, Pa.

SMI has purchased a 16-slice Toshiba Aquilion CT and a Viztek digital direct radiography straight-arm x-ray system, with delivery and installation expected by the end of July. The facility has already completed construction of new rooms to house the equipment, and expects to begin scanning patients in August.

“We are very excited about adding new modalities to our center. The addition of CT and Xray to our two MRI machines should allow us to offer a complete set of services to our community,” said Mitchell Geisler, CEO of DIIG.

SMI is a wholly owned subsidiary of DIIG and has provided imaging services to the local community for 11 years. The facility provides the only open MRI in Schuylkill County and is accredited by the American College of Radiology.
