A new online training video from AltusMedical presents an overview of the use of iodinated contrast agents in computed tomography to help improve diagnostic outcomes and patient safety. Understanding Contrast Media in the Clinical Setting: Iodinated Contrast for CT  has been approved for one Category A continuing education credit by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).

The hour-long program will discuss relaxivity, iodine concentration, osmolality and osmolarity, dosing guidelines, and other factors differentiate contrast agents. By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the clinical applications of iodinated contrast agents in diagnostic imaging studies;
  • Differentiate between specific iodinated contrast agents and how those differences affect their use; and
  • Recognize how advances in computed tomography technology and protocols impact the use of iodinated contrast agents for diagnostic imaging.
