Formed from an alliance of Medweb and DocbookMD, Docbook Gateway provides secure (military encryption) sharing of urgent labs, images, and reports directly to a doctor’s mobile device from multiple hospitals and information systems. It also allows users to share teleconsultation images, x-rays, CT, MRI, and EKGs directly with any Docbook Gateway user. This technology provides doctors a convenient way to view relevant information about their patients in real time whether they are at the hospital, out to lunch, or in a conference. The Gateway recognizes stat consult requests, reports, images, and lab values and sends a separate alert to the mobile device while providing a single button interface to let the physician browse routine reports at any time.
Docbook Gateway is a device that accepts messages from hospital information systems, EMRs, and PACS and then automatically routes relevant labs, images, and reports to the practicing physician’s smartphone, or tablet device (including Windows 8 tablets). It uses standard medical imaging and informatics protocols like HL7, DICOM, and IHE to sift through multiple hospital and private practice information systems and delivers it neat and organized manner to the doctor’s mobile device.
