binarycode_keysThe American Society of Radiologic Technologists has launched Safety Essentials, an online educational series that offers an in-depth overview of patient and workplace safety in health care settings.

Healthcare professionals have access to 10 modules that highlight safety best practices in medical environments. Topics include workplace safety, risk management, patient transfer and transport, fall prevention, infection control, medication safety and radiation protection. The series also reviews patient care protocols and steps to prevent medical errors, as outlined in The Joint Commission performance requirements.

“Health care departments continuously work to improve safety protocols for patients and health care providers, yet fundamental safety measures remain incredibly important,” said Craig St. George, ASRT Director of Online Education. “The Safety Essentials series offers step-by-step guidance to establish basic and advanced safety protocols, and it includes a free hand washing and hygiene PDF poster, a tool that reminds health care professionals how simple measures can protect patients and themselves.”

Approved for Category A continuing education credit, modules are accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Radiologic technologists who successfully complete all the modules will earn 14 CE credits and receive a document from ASRT recognizing their achievement.

Administrators, managers and educators have access to a non-CE credit institutional version, which is licensed for unlimited use and contains all 10 modules, transcripts, an image library and test banks for each module.
