The ASRT has launched two online modules to help radiologic technologists and facilities meet revised requirements from the Joint Commission.
Safe CT Practices and Safe MRI Practices were developed to inform providers about the Commission’s updated safety practice and CT dose reduction requirements. Revisions impact radiologic technologists who perform computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging procedures in ambulatory care, hospital and critical access facilities accredited by the Joint Commission.
Safe CT Practices reviews safety factors in CT, including technical factor selection, positioning and shielding, while Safe MRI Practices outlines safety factors in MRI, including safety principles, patient screening and emergency management.
Modules are for safety training only and are not eligible for continuing education credit.
In addition, ASRT has developed the Safe CT and MRI Practices Combo Pack, which includes both modules.
