A study recently published in the American Journal of Managed Care has shown that hospitals that share diagnostic data through their electronic health records with other providers in their system are associated with better patient outcomes.
Hospitals sharing diagnostic data through their EHRs with other hospitals and physicians within their system were associated with significant reductions in 30-day patient mortality scores. In contrast, electronic sharing of diagnostic data with hospitals outside their system was significantly associated with higher patient mortality scores for HF.
