mobile-c-arm-cios-alpha-overview-01174975~10 At the 101st Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, Siemens Healthcare has introduced a wide array of diagnostic and interventional systems that help health care facilities perform optimally in the wake of increasing cost pressure, an expanding emphasis on quality measures, and mounting time constraints.

At RSNA 2015, Siemens is showcasing two new features to its established PURE platform, which simplifies the adoption and utilization of advanced features on the Artis zee, Artis Q, and Artis Q.zen angiography systems. Designed to aid in endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), syngo EVAR Guidance² offers automated detection of vessel walls on computed tomography (CT) datasets as well as automatic placement of landmarks for 3D image guidance. Additionally, it suggests the optimal angulation of C-arms for precise deployment.

The versatile new Biograph Horizon positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET•CT) system images patients using all commercially available PET tracers, enabling users to address more indications in oncology, neurology and cardiology. To help physicians visualize small lesions earlier, Biograph Horizon’s 4 mm lutetium oxyorthosilicate (LSO) crystals scintillate faster and have a higher light output compared to BGO crystals.

Siemens unveiled three new models of its Cios family of C-arms. Offering the state-of-the-art flat panel detectors of the established Cios Alpha mobile C-arm system in the medium price segment, the new Cios Fusion boasts two detector sizes – 30 cm x 30 cm and 20 cm x 20 cm. Additionally, the Cios Fusion features software packages adapted from the Cios Alpha and an additional touchscreen that can be positioned at the operating table to control the C-arm from within the sterile work area. The new Cios Connect – a lightweight C-arm weighing only 547 lbs. – provides a broad area of applications to the medium market segment. The company also showed a new entry-level Cios Select C-arm and a new version of its established Cios Alpha mobile C-arm system.

Finally, the company introduced the ACUSON NX3 and ACUSON NX3 Elite, two new ultrasound systems designed specifically to accommodate clinician workflow. Both mid-range systems offer an intuitive interface combined with innovative imaging solutions for examinations primarily in general medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics and neurology.
