Synapse VNAFujifilm Medical Systems USA Inc, of Stamford, Conn, has expanded its healthcare IT portfolio with its Synapse vendor neutral archive, which the company will showcase at the Healthcare Informatics Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference from April 13 through April 16 in Chicago.

Providing patient-centric applications, Synapse is a highly scalable, organizational image content management solution.

“Fujifilm continues to provide innovation to meet its goal of creating superior healthcare experiences and improving patient outcomes,” said Jim Morgan, Fujifilm vice president of medical informatics. “Synapse VNA will enhance image management, streamline workflow, reduce costs and, most importantly, improve patient care.”

Synapse offers complete virtualization with existing server architecture, and it is open to leverage existing or scheduled physical storage environments. In addition, it can capture multiple methods of electronic health record content and can store data in its native format supporting both DICOM and non-DICOM.

“By listening to management teams and IT professionals, and leveraging Fujifilm’s broad experience in healthcare imaging domains, Fujifilm is creating a powerful new solution with Synapse VNA,” Morgan said. “This addresses the clinical departmental needs of image management and allows IT the tools to centralize organizational imaging.”

Fujifim will also have its Synapse Mobility Enterprise Viewer on display. The viewer seeks to expand VNA image access across an entire health system.
