Sony_27 Inch Monitor_2_OnWhite 400Sony Electronics Medical Systems has released a new 27-inch surgical monitor for use in operating rooms, medical centers, clinics, and doctor’s offices. Suitable for either a cart system or with a ceiling-mounted configuration, the panel comes in both a digital-only version and with a digital and analog interface.

“These new monitors are Sony’s latest innovations for medical display, creating a new standard in visualization,” said Anne Bondulich, surgical marketing manager for Sony’s Medical Systems division. “From its intuitively operable control panel with lighted navigation to the simplicity of cleaning, the monitor fits right into current systems.”

The monitor has a brightness of 1000 cd/m2 and can display HD images up to 1920 x 1080 pixels from surgical endoscope/laparoscopic camera systems and other compatible medical imaging systems. The unit is equipped with OptiContrast Panel technology, a feature that replaces the layer of air between the panel and glass with a layer of resin to match the refractive properties of the glass. This technique creates a dark background that enables display of vibrant, high-contrast images even in a brightly lit operating room and minimizes glare.

Both versions of the monitor will become available in November 2014. For more information, visit Sony Electronics Medical Systems.
